Baradsaar Lake is located at an altitude of 4400m between the Rupin and Supin valleys in Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand, often referred to as Devbhumi (literally “Land of the Gods”) due to many Hindu temples and pilgrimage centers found throughout the state. Baradsaar lake is on the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. This high-altitude lake is surrounded by numerous snow-covered mountains. The path to the lake is initially through a green valley and later it is boulder strewn and a bit difficult which finally leads to the Baradsaar lake. The trek is amidst the alpine forests of Deodar, Red Buransh, White Buransh, Bhojpatra & Oak Trees. You can enjoy mesmerizing views of Sunset, Sunrise, The Himalayan Range, Monal Bird, Musk Deer, Snow Leopard, Bear, Fox etc.

We offer a village homestay during the trekking in one of the remotest villages of Uttarakhand, which are off-road, off-grid & off-network. Staying in these remote villages provide you an opportunity to understand the rural part of India, their culture & their livelihood conditions.

This high altitude lake is very famous among trekkers and highlanders.The trek starts from a lush green forest, Rupin river and ends up with snow covered mountains. Here you can enjoy the sunrise view in Swargarohini.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Dehradun to Pithadi Village (Drive)
We will start the day early morning from Dehradun to Mori, from Mori we will move along the Tamsa river (Tons River) through Netwar, Motwad & Jakhol. The route is extremely beautiful where you can enjoy the view of the river Yamuna, Cable Bridges, Monkeys, Vultures & Kites, etc. Purola is the last big city on the route where you can have access to mobile networks, ATM, scenic view of step farming and lunch provided by us. After Purola we cut into the Tons valley and cross Mori and Netwar. From Netwar we will take the route to Sankri. 3 km before Sankri we will take a left to Jakhol. After Jakhol we have muddy roads for the next 8 KM where we will enjoy the crossing of the Rupin river.Crossing of the Rupin river will be a memorable experience to you. After about 45 minutes we will reach the Pithadi village.

Pithadi Village: Village homestay at Pithadi,Uttarakhand is memorable, enjoyable & pleasant. Here you can charge you electronics by solar power.  The homestay is in the lap of nature surrounded by traditional pahadi houses, mountains & lush green fields.In this village we will offer you traditional food, continuous hot water, natural spring water, comfortable beds fivepersons sharing basis.Pithadi stands at roughly 2,000m altitude from sea level. For its altitude, Pithadi is a large village with over 150 households. The village folks are mostly agrarian. The local deity is Someshwar Mahadev, a big temple stands in his honor in the center of the village courtyard. In the evening you can enjoy the beauty of the village by seeing traditional wood painting in houses, architecture of the Pahadi Houses, Lambs etc.

Dinner: Organic Rajma with Flavor of Garlic & Onion, Organic Fried Potato with Jakhya (Jakhya –Cleome Viscose, is the spice used in Garhwali dishes to feel the exotic taste of buds) , Kandali ki Sabji (Vegetable of Nettle), Chapatis & Red Hilly Organic Rice with Clarified Butter of Badri cow & Aamlach (Sauce made from local fruits, taste is very sour and the water will come from your mouth whenever you will memorize the taste)

Day 02: Pithadi to Thaaki Thaach (8 KM Trek ) 

We leave Pithadi village in the morning after having light breakfast. Jeeps are arranged for travel to Rala village, which is the last motorable village on our route. From Rala village we will start our journey on foot.The trek is of moderate difficulty and along the lush green forests.  This grassy forest is home to Gujjars and their herds of cattle and equines. You can easily see Sheep, Bhotiya Dog, Badri Cows, Buffaloes, Horses and Kacchars (Mules) grazing in the pastures. In between we will have Snacks & Tea. After 4-5-hour journey we will reach at Thaaki Thaach where we will spend the night in Tents.Lunch, Dinner & Hot Ginger Honey Tea will be served at tents.

Day 03: Thaaki Thaach to Devbasa (8KM Trek)

We Will continue to Devbasa after having breakfast in morning, where you will enjoy the view of Mountains, Monal Birds, Buransh Tree and Deodar trees. In between we will serve you snacks with tea. After 8 Km of trek we will reach at Devbasa. Davbasa is on the ridge where we will pitch our tents. From here we can enjoy the mesmerizing view of the Sural forest & Liwadi village. Lunch, Dinner & Salted Butter tea from the taste of Spiti Valley will be served in Tents. From Devbasa we start a steep climb up the Baradsaar Ridge.

Day 04: DevbasatoBaradsaar (8 KM Trek)

The trek today is mostly uphill and steep and covered with rocks. The Baradsaar ridge is the highest point for the trek at an altitude of 4,400m. We are likely to encounter snow and glaciers on the route. One notices a remarkable lack of vegetation as we climb the ridge and leave Devbasa behind. The view is extremely mesmerizing, fantastic and refreshing. Here we could face chilled winds, which will give you a feel to fly in the sky. We will set up our camp in a plain area for the night. In night you can enjoy the enthralling view of stars milky way & fulfill your wishes via shooting stars. Lunch, Dinner & Neetal Tea will be served in Tents.

Day 05: Visit Baradsaar Lake (2 KM) And Return to Devbasa (6 KM)

Early mornings offer a clear and beautiful view of the Baradsaar lake.The lake is hidden behind a cliff. It is approximately 2 KM distance from the camping site and can be done easily with the day’s freshness. side and slopes on the other. We can approach the lake easily. The lake is a beautiful sight, with towering cliffs on one In colder months you can see the lake partially frozen. The lake gives rise to a stream that flows down from one end. The source of the lake is a mystery among the locals but it is mostly fed by the glaciers and snow on the surrounding ridges. After having our fill of the lake we start the return journey to Devbasa. The steep Baradsaar ridge is as tricky going down as it is coming up. We slowly and surely return to the greener terrains of Devbasa and camp for the night. One can spot the Bharaadsar ridge from here to get a sense of the towering heights scaled during the last 48 hours. Relax and enjoy the camp at Devbasa. Lunch, Dinner & Tea will be served in Tents.

Day 06: Devbasa to Sural Forest (Descend 6 KM)
The day can start late as there is little distance to be covered. From Devbasa we pack and move towards the Sural forest. There are many meadows while crossing the forest.There are streams of crystal clear water flowing through the mountains
that make for picturesque scenes. One can spot the Himalayan Grey Langur (also known as Hanuman Langur) jumping the
branches of the trees. We will camp in an area near to crystal clear streams. Liwadi village is on the opposite mountain face. Lunch, Dinner & Neetal Tea will be served in Tents.

Day 07: Sural Forest toPithadi Village (10 KM by Trek and 3 KM by Road)
After having a light breakfast we will start our journey to Pithadi village. The trek has downwards slope. In between we will see the grassy forest and many meadows. After 5-6 hours of trekking we will reach at Pithadi village. In village we will offer traditional food, continuous hot water, natural spring water, comfortable beds with five persons sharing basis. At night we will offer you traditional dance in the bonfire.

Day 08 : Pithadi Village  to Dehradun (216KM)

On day eight we will start our journey from Pithadi village to Dehradun early in the morning after having a light breakfast. We take the same route back to Dehradun, via Mori, Purola and Damta.
